The Post-Graduation Course in Human Rights, organised by Ius Gentium Conimbrigae/Human Rights Centre (HRC) of the Faculty of Law, University of Coimbra, started in 1999, with the purpose of providing specialised education in the area of Human Rights. The Course works concurrently as part of the European Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation, established in Venice and organised by a consortium of 41 EU universities, and as an independent post-graduate course, which is open to other interested individuals.

The scientific coordinators of the Post-Graduation Course are Professors Rui Moura Ramos, Vital Moreira, Teresa Pizarro Beleza and Jónatas Machado. Classes are delivered by academics, experts and representatives of governmental and non-governmental organisations.

The Course consists of two parts: one, delivered in Portuguese, in which Human Rights are addressed in a generic and introductory way*, and another, composed by four specialisation modules, delivered in English.
